Flights from Brisbane to Bangalore (Bengaluru) always involve at least one stop, as no airline flies BNE to BLR nonstop. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the most direct-feeling connections, with Gulf and Hong Kong routings as alternatives, and the total trip usually runs from about 15 to 22 hours.

We are a Brisbane travel agency based in Nundah, near the airport, and we have booked Australia to India travel for over a decade. Tell us your dates in the form above and a consultant will send back the best current options.

Connections our Brisbane consultants usually look at

Bengaluru sits in the south of India, so hubs in Southeast Asia keep the total distance down. Options typically include Singapore Airlines or Scoot through Singapore, Malaysia Airlines through Kuala Lumpur (with Batik Air and AirAsia X also flying KL to Bengaluru in some seasons), and Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong.

Emirates via Dubai and Qatar Airways via Doha also serve Bengaluru. You fly past India and double back, so the journey is a little longer, but these routes can price well and have plenty of daily departures. When a Southeast Asian hub is sold out over Christmas, the Gulf is often where the seats are.

Who flies between Brisbane and Bengaluru

A lot of our BLR bookings come from Brisbane's tech and professional community, many of whom moved from Bengaluru and still have family there. We also book students heading home over the long university break, and grandparents coming out to Brisbane for a few months to help with a new baby. Each of those trips has different needs. A student usually cares about price and baggage. Parents flying alone usually care about a short, simple connection and help at the airport.

Telling us who is travelling helps us suggest the right routing, not just the cheapest line on a fare screen.

Kempegowda International: allow time for the drive

Bengaluru's airport is Kempegowda International (BLR), at Devanahalli on the city's northern edge. It is a long way from many residential areas. Depending on traffic, the drive to suburbs in the south or east of the city can take well over an hour, sometimes closer to two.

That affects how you plan. A late-night arrival usually means lighter traffic, which some families prefer. On the way home, leave plenty of time to reach the airport, especially on weekday evenings. Official airport taxis and app-based rides are available from the arrivals area.

Seasons and festival dates to plan around

Bengaluru's climate is milder than most Indian cities, so weather is rarely the deciding factor. School holidays and festivals are. Queensland's December to January summer break is the busiest time for BLR bookings from Brisbane. Ugadi, the Kannada New Year in March or April, and Dasara in September or October also bring families home, with Mysuru's Dasara celebrations a draw in their own right. Diwali lands in October or November.

For December and January travel we recommend locking in fares by mid-year where you can.

Fare rules worth reading before you pay

Two fares on the same Brisbane to Bengaluru flights can carry very different conditions. The cheapest economy fares often have high change fees and may not be refundable at all. A fare a little higher can let you change your return date for a smaller fee, which is useful for students whose exam dates move or professionals who might be called back to work early.

Seat selection and checked baggage also vary. On some airlines they are included, on others you pay extra at booking or at the airport. When we send a quote we list what is included, so you can compare fares properly rather than on price alone. If you are unsure which conditions matter for your trip, tell us how firm your dates are and we will recommend a fare type that fits.

    Travelling on from Bengaluru

BLR is a handy hub for the rest of Karnataka and beyond. Mysuru is a few hours away by road. Mangaluru, Hubballi and Belagavi have domestic flights, and so do Kerala cities such as Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, as well as Goa. If your final stop is in Tamil Nadu, flying into Chennai may be simpler. See flights from Brisbane to Chennai to compare.

If you land late at night and have a domestic flight early the next day, the airport area at Devanahalli has hotels close to the terminal. That saves a long drive into the city and back. We can suggest timings that avoid this altogether where possible, as a same-ticket connection is usually simpler than an overnight split.

    Help for parents travelling alone

Senior travellers flying between Bengaluru and Brisbane on their own make up a big part of our work. We can request wheelchair assistance at each airport, which also helps with the walk between gates at the hub. We note vegetarian or Jain meal requests, and we favour itineraries with a single, reasonable layover. Our Nundah team can also talk family members through check-in times and what to pack in cabin bags.

    Visas, OCI and insurance

An Australian passport holder needs an Indian e-Visa or regular visa unless they hold OCI. If parents are coming from Bengaluru to Brisbane, they need an Australian visa, often a Visitor visa (subclass 600), before they fly. Check official government sources for the latest rules. We offer help with Indian visas, Australian visa assistance and travel insurance. For all our Queensland India routes, visit flights to India from Brisbane.
